With his statement that “we must remain at it until the job is done,” Jerome Powell made it quite apparent at Jackson Hole that the Fed still has work to do on the inflation front. But this job will not be easy specially when federal reserve total assets is pilled up to $8,826 Billion as of today.

In other words, rate increases and balance sheet unwinding will continue.

The Fed’s balance sheet has only shrunk by $139 billion so far, and its assets are still greater than they were at the beginning of the year. From this point on, it’s anticipated that the unwind would quicken at a rate of $95 billion every month.

As of Today Fed holds 8,826 Billion USD in Total Assets.
